A nonionic surfactant is a type of surface-active agent that does not carry any electrical charge on its hydrophilic (water-attracting) end. It is valued for its nonionic emulsifying, dispersing, and wetting properties. Nonionic surfactants are commonly used when a low-foaming agent is needed, such as in laundry detergents, dishwashing liquids, fabric softeners, and industrial nonionic agents.
