A nonionic surfactant is a type of surface-active agent that does not carry any electrical charge on its hydrophilic (water-attracting) end. It is valued for its nonionic emulsifying, dispersing, and wetting properties. Nonionic surfactants are commonly used when a low-foaming agent is needed, such as in laundry detergents, dishwashing liquids, fabric softeners, and industrial nonionic agents. Due to their gentle nature, nonionic surfactants are also frequently found in personal care products like lotions, creams, and cosmetics.
